" Pure-white, stone-cold fiber optic lighting sytems "
Galleries and Rooms
NoUVIR excels in lighting artifacts and objects.
Most galleries or rooms, even if all the fiber optic lighting is installed in the ceiling, use the fiber optic lighting to light artifacts and objects. Ambient (general room lighting) is often done by something inexpensive, but carefully picked and heavily filtered, offered by a company selling bulk lighting.
There usually is a reason to use fiber optic lighting to light an area. That does not mean it is not done. But the area has to, for example, need hidden lighting as it is a historical room and anything else ruins the historical interpretation. It is surprising how modern tracklights kill the feel of stepping back in time in a house museum.
Other reasons can be:
These space become almost sacred. The light is so etherial. And for historic settings, the fact the lighting disappears is even better.
NoUVIR works well for luxury and themed spaces. It is IDEAL for the UNUSUAL.
Architects and designers have created a medieval gaming room, a hunting lodge, an 1800’s cattle ranch, a cave of stalactites and stalagmites with dripping water, a grotto that’s a pool house, a mine tunnel, an aquarium with live sharks swimming through light beams, a historic church alter, a mission, a modern art gallery ceiling using the fiber as art that lights, numerous wizard towers, a secret room with access through a swivel china cabinet, an orchid garden, a frozen vodka bar, a starlit dock with buildings, a saloon…people over the years have been very creative with NoUVIR.
Just beware of painting walls too dark. NoUVIR does not have the overspray and stray splash of other lighting. The walls not be lit unless you light them.

It is surprising how modern tracklights kill the feel of stepping back in time in a house museum.
Other reasons can be:
- the ceilings are too-low (people can touch fiber optics),
- the room is completely historic and full of light sensitive artifacts. (NoUVIR lights a famous artist’s studio as well as a famous sculptor’s work area),
- an area gets wet or damp like a Hawaiian hut or a century-old log cabin dugout,
- the space is a mock-up like a step-inside-to-experience railroad car, or a paddle wheeler steam ship, or an authentic teepee as a lecture room or a battle-scarred campaign tent,
- the area is a natural diorama (good figures and foliage is a big investment and shouldn’t be allowed to fade),
- the ceiling is historic and fiber optics can be installed without much or any construction (think how dry 200-year-old, tiger-skin, oak ceiling panels can be and how nice it is to have no electricity or heat in the ceiling joists), or
- places where there is no easy access for maintenance.
These space become almost sacred. The light is so etherial. And for historic settings, the fact the lighting disappears is even better.
“I knew I was in trouble. They (the board) thought, ‘Why did you spend all this money?’ I told my assistant…’Quick…turn off the fiber optics.’ Suddenly the board and I were in a dim room, one of many, in a dim house and even though there were windows, now you couldn’t see squat. Until I killed the lights, they were unaware of the lighting. But once they saw, really saw how magic fiber was, I was a hero.” - House Museum Director
